Ghost Hunters International
In this new Sci-fi channel show a mixed group of paranormal investigators (some experienced, some green) travel Europe's famous haunts in an effort to prove the existence of ghosts once and for all. Using high-tech equipment and some spiritual savvy, they investigate dusty ruins and ancient churches in such places as Romania, England, Ireland, and Italy. The crew is composed of some young, inexperienced investigators, a few skeptics, one seasoned investigator and an Irish guy. Nothing says objectivity like bringing along a high-strung Irish dude, really these people are more superstitious than my German grandma.
During their investigations they use such tech-tools as a digital thermometer-"Gasp!, a ghost must be present it's very cold and damp here...no, wait it's just England." They search for high electromagnetic readings with another gadget- "The EMF field is going haywire, a spirit must be attempting to manifest!...or we are just very near the Coke machine...." They scan for electronic voice phenomena with sensitive digital recorders- "Listen, I've recorded a disembodied voice whispering HELLLPPP MEEEE...or maybe the furnace just kicked on."
Laugh as you might (and you will) sometimes these true-believers strike pay-dirt, on one episode they are told to search for evidence of a female ghost that haunts an English pub. During the course of their search they catch a crystal clear woman's voice on their recorders, even capturing what seems an actual intelligent but short verbal exchange with this "ghost." This type of evidence is rare on the show and mostly their time is spent freaking themselves out and sitting in the dark. The fun moments of this show are when these intrepid explorers think they are genuinely experiencing something and just about wet their pants. As far as the Irish team member goes, well no shock here, he sees spirits everywhere and often hears voices- he may be a "sensitive" or just half in the bag...you decide.
Will this show turn you into a believer in the unseen world? Will you come away convinced of life after death?....nahh, but most people are curious about ghosts and most are too chicken-poop to openly talk openly about this contraversial topic. If you cannot speak on this subject without being crapped on by your overly cerebral co-workers and friends then tune in and take the journey with the Ghost Hunters International team, or converses with a ghost- just don't come bitching to me if they holler back.
This show receives three and a half "Get her Ray!(s)" out of a possible five.
