A Tale of Two Coreys
The second season premiere of A&E's The Two Coreys starts on Sunday June 22. Take my advice and watch this, it is a reality show about Corey Feldman and Corey Haim of 80's teen movie fame (most notably 1987's The Lost Boys). In the show, the two men try very hard to come back together after many years and rekindle their friendship, there's only one problem, Corey Feldman has become a well adjusted, married man, who as an actor still finds plenty of work and Corey Haim is an immature, emotionally stunted, single guy who apparently has some substance abuse issues. The chemistry on this show (trainwreck that it is) is fascinating and endlessly entertaining, the two men argue about bad habits, married live vs. single life and spend a lot of time reminiscing about the "glory days". They spend an especially entertaining amount of time discussing The Lost Boys.
I will come clean and tell you that I watched every second of season one and found it truly funny, sometimes very touching and always enjoyable. These two men are a modern odd couple, in the show Feldman has Haim come to his California mansion to stay and much wackiness ensues. Haim is a total slob of course and Feldman and his wife follow him throughout their gorgeous house cleaning up after him and speaking to him as if he is a child. The encounters between Haim and Feldman's wife Suzie are just awesome, she is a spoiled brat of a woman who absolutely refuses to take any of Haim's crap. She also spends a lot of time on camera questioning the decision they made bringing Haim into their immaculate home.
Throughout season one the two men attempt to come together in an effort to further both of their careers, they audition for movies, appear at a twentieth anniversary screening of The Lost Boys together, this episode proves to be especially juicy. As time goes on, Haim's attitude and grip on sanity begins to go downhill, and Feldman and his wife are forced to deal with the chaos and self-loathing that is Corey Haim. The first season ends with the Feldmans giving Haim the boot, their friendship in tatters. As a fan of the show I was convinced that this was the end of this show...but no.
Season two begins this week and it is gonna rock, the two ex-best friends will face off and try to repair their friendship, they will come together again and the battle will resume, let's hope that the big wigs at A&E give Suzie Feldman just as much lens time this time around because on this guilty pleasure sundae she is the cherry on top.
The Two Coreys receives five fist fights in the kitchen out of a possible five.
