The 2008 MTV VMAs... I wish I had the last two hours of my life back
Last night on the MTV Video Music Awards we experienced a few unique things. Personally I could have lived without most of them.
Right after Brit swallowed the microphone and said four sentences, Rihanna came out for the first performance and did the dance of the zombies which my 7 year old daughter's only comment was, "That was really weird." This comment came with no prompting or dialouge from me, I simply watched the performance in horrified silence and then she said it, I am so proud.
Next we had Russell Brand come out onto the stage and make a complete ass out of his whole country. I love Great Britian, my Mother is Scottish and I have been there twice, it's a beautiful set of islands and I am stoked they are our allies, so I won't hold anything against them for allowing this pimple to leave and come over here. Hell it's in the foundational roots of our country to "Send Us Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Huddled Masses" but this guy takes the cake. The only props I can give him is that he made fun of his own hair, so I won't go down that road. What bothers me is a British, whatever he is, getting his two cents in about who we should elect for our next President. I have an idea for people from other countries, stop coming to America and telling us who to vote for. He likes Obama, fine, I can live with that, it wouldn't matter to me who he endorsed because I don't like either of them. My point is, people don't like it when we tell other countries who to put in charge and dable in THEIR elections so stop coming over here and doing it to us. His zero credibility begins and ends with the fact that it looks like he got dressed for the VMA's out of the dumpster behind a Big Lots.
To be honest, a bunch of crap happend and Brit won three VMA's, awarded by a network that no longer has anything to do with music. I can only assume MTV did this because they still feel they influence the music industry, whatever. The big "25th Anniversary" show was a dull knife on flesh, a jagged wound with lots of pain, sadly all we have to look forward to is next year.
Official ITD Rating: Zero out of Zero, I'm not even going to take the time to come up with something clever
